Update: Overturned Big Rig on 101 Causes Sigalert, No Hazardous Material Spilled

Update 9:30 p.m.

It was determined that the fluid spilled from an overturned big rig on the 101 freeway at Liberty Canyon was not hazardous, said CHP Officer Kimball.

Kimball said he does not have information about what exactly the fluid was in his report.

Currently, only the 5 lane is closed as crews clean up the accident.

The CHP could not determine how long it will take before the entire freeway is re-opened.

Original Story

An overturned big rig on the eastbound 101 at Liberty Canyon Wednesday has caused a Sigalert for the 4 and 5 lanes since late this afternoon, California Highway Patrol officials said.

The truck was reported overturned at 3:45 p.m. but the accident has not been cleaned up as fluid is reported leaking from the vehicle, said CHP Officer Patiana Sauquillo.

Though there is no confirmation that the fluid is dangerous, a hazardous material team has been dispatched to investigate, Sauquillo said.

There are no reports of injuries and no other vehicles were involved.
