Teens Sell Cookies to Fight Childhood Cancer

Philanthropic students from stood in front of Vons Saturday to raise funds to help battle childhood cancer.

Colin McDonald, Isaac Kretzmer and Patrick Pool, all member of Cookies for Kids' Cancer, held up signs, directing drivers and pedestrians to their colleague set up with a cookie stand in front of the supermarket.

"We've got so many members that we've had to spread out our locations," said McDonald when asked why his group came out to Agoura.

According to the students, the goods are mostly homebaked, though some are donated through participating companies.

According to the website, Cookies for Kids' Cancer is a non profit founded by parents inspired by their son Liam's battle with cancer. They were shocked to learn that the main reason over 25% of kids diagnosed with cancer do not survive is because of a lack of effective therapies. And the reason for the lack of therapies was very simple: lack of funding. They pledged to support the development of new and better treatments by giving people a simple way to get involved.
