Calabasas-Malibu Wine & Food Fest Raises Funds for Charity

A two-week-long festival that started in Malibu came to a mouth-watering end in Calabasas on Sunday.

The 6th Annual Calabasas-Malibu Wine & Food Festival drew thousands from near and far to the Mercedes Benz dealership over the weekend in a charity event beneftting the Children’s Tumor Foundation.

Notable chefs Adrian Giese of Mastro's Steakhouse, Carlos Enriquez of Bravo’s Top Chef and Kimmy Tang of Beverly Hills 9021PHO served up their culinary concoctions alongside nearly 100 other vendors, including Fresh Brothers, and Calabasas Vineyards.

Wine and cheese were not the only items on the menu as guests enjoyed a wide diversity of spirits, gourmet dishes, desserts and shopping beneath the open sky on the rooftop of the dealership while listening to live entertainment.

Jemma Louis rocked the crowd with renditions of Somebody That I Used to Know by Gotye and Rolling in the Deep by Adele in her perfomance Sunday.

More than 1,000 guests showed up Sunday, and Saturday’s 2,000 tickets sold out, according to Alan Semsar of Barcelona Enterprises. The certified green event was a Barcelona production.

The final tally of how much money was raised for the Children’s Tumor Foundation won’t be known for about a week, but the festival’s turnout was great, said Whitney Singer of the foundation.

Derrick Marshall, often visits wine festivals on the coasts of California, Italy and Spain. The Winnetka resident said the Calabasas Wine and Food Festival surpassed his expectations with its abundance of offerings.

"For this area, it was laid out nicely," Marshall said. "It's pretty ambitious."
