Mayor Makes a Friendly and High Caloric Wager on Calabasas Boys Bball Game

If the Coyotes fall to the La Habra Raiders, well, at least their mayor will gain some weight.

Mayor Fred Gaines is putting it all on the line -- or at least putting cheesecake on the line.

With the Calabasas High boys basketball team winning its semi-final game Tuesday, the Coyotes now head into the championship game against Sonora High School in La Habra.

As mayors are wont to do, Gaines made a little wager on the game.

He sent a letter to La Habra Mayor Tom Beamish.

"Calabasas is home to the world headquarters of The Cheesecake Factory," Gaines wrote. "I will send you one of their incredible cheesecakes if the Raiders are victorious on Saturday.

"What La Habra delicacy can you offer in return?" Gaines asked.

Your humble editor hales from Orange County can think of no great delicacy for which La Habra is known. But we're sure Gaines will happily correct us.

By the way, the game is noon at the Honda Center in Anaheim. Go Coyotes!
