La Habra Sees Calabasas's Cheesecake and Raises with Pralines

Two mayors with high school teams facing off in the CIF basketball championships Saturday make a friendly and REALLY caloric wager.

The mayor of La Habra has answered Calabasas Mayor Fred Gaines's call to place a friendly wager on Saturday's CIF championship game between high schools from the two cities.

The Calabasas High Coyotes will face Sonora High School of La Habra noon at the Honda Center in Anaheim.

Gaines sent a letter to his counterpart, Mayor Tom Beamish, offering to get him a Cheescake Factory cheesecake, should Calabasas lose. So what does Gaines get if the Raiders lose?

"The pride and the esteem that the Calabasas community holds for the Calabasas High School Coyotes basketball team is matched by the affection we hold for our Sonora High School Raiders," Beamish wrote.

"In the event the Coyotes defeat our Raiders I will send  you a delicious box of pralines from the world famous El Cholo Restaurant, one of Southern California premiere eateries and a La Habra institution."

According to Google, a slice of cheesecake has 401 calories (we hear the Cheescake Factory's servings are much richer than that paltry estimate). Pralines are about 200 each.

But since Beamish plans to send a whole box, we call the bet even and we say, Go Coyotes!
