Coyote's State Tourney Run Ends in OT

Coyotes fall to St. John Bosco in the second round of state playoff play.

A tough overtime loss Saturday night brought an end to a boys basketball season that will surely be remembered for years to come.

In the best season ever for the Coyotes (28-4), the team won its first CIF division championship and advanced to the state tournament for the first time in the school's history.

But in extra play during a quaterfinal match of the CIF State Division III Southern California Regional, St. John Bosco held out just a little bit more, edging out the Coyotes, 75-71.

Calabasas' Jeremy Lieberman scored a basket in the final moments of regulation, tying the teams at 65 a piece, according to ESPN.

But St. John's Isaac Hamilton opened overtime with four points, and his team outscored the Coyotes 10-6, the sports news website reported.

Lieberman finished with 23 points and five assists, while Spencer Levy added 23 points of his own, according to ESPN.
