Olympic Gold Medalist Visits Round Meadow

Four-time Olympic gold medalist and former WNBA player Lisa Leslie visited the elementary school Friday for a basketball demo and clinic.

 

Lisa Leslie, is a former American professional women's basketball player in the WNBA and four-time Olympic gold medal winner, visited Round Meadow Elementary School Friday for a basketball demo and clinic.

The Galloping Colts, a running club started by parents Laura Page and Mike Levinson, invited the three-time WNBA MVP to talk to all 550 students.

"She [discussed] good sportsmanship, setting goals, focusing on what you want in life, practicing for something you want to do and basic basketball fundamentals," said Levinson.  

Leslie spent the entire lunch period with kindergarteners through fifth-graders demonstrating such drills as the right way to shoot a basketball and proper dribbling.

"The kids loved her being there and learned a lot of being a good sport and playing the game of basketball," said Levinson.
