No School Board Election This Year
Lack of opponents gives incumbents Jill Gaines and Cindy Iser another term.
Two incumbents on the Board of Education will each serve another term following a lack of opponents filing for the Nov. 8 school board election.
Jill Gaines and Cindy Iser, whose terms are expiring in December, will each serve four years on the board again, according to Superintendent Donald Zimring.
The filing period for the school board race was between July 18-Aug.12.

Ziona Friedlander, president of the Together Helping Education Foundation for Las Virgenes Schools, said the lack of any new candidates might be a sign that community members are content with the way the school board has been conducting business.
Raising money to rescind 61 teaching layoff notices this spring and implementing a new online class registration portal are some of the district's and board's recent accomplishments, she said.

"I see people satisfied with the way things are being run with our school board and district leadership," Friedlander said.
