Less Parking, More Noise During CHS Construction

The work on Calabasas High's new performing arts center will displace some on-campus parking and redirect traffic flow.

The parking and student drop-off situation will be a little different for the beginning of the new school year at Calabasas High.

Due to the construction of the school's 650-seat performing arts center, Las Virgenes Unified officials released some commuting guidelines on Monday for students and parents:

  • Parent drop-off is now along Valmar Road and along the curb on Mulholland in front of the school.
  • Staff volunteers will be directing traffic.
  • All students will enter the campus via Old Topanga Road. Please refer to the map that is attached to this article.
  • Construction traffic will enter campus by the tennis courts. Do not attempt to enter the area within the green fence.
  • There will be no on-site drop-off  between 7 a.m. and 7:45 a.m.

It will take about two years to build the performing arts center. Construction began in June.

"The school and the district will continually work to minimize the inconvenience to our students and the community.

"Student safety will not be jeopardized by the construction and all work will be coordinated so as not to interfere with the instructional program.

"If have any suggestions or questions during construction or if you observe any unsafe conditions, please contact TeamConcept at stjohn@lvusd.org or 818.889.1910."
