Hollywood Comes to the 'Burbs for First Annual T.H.E. Event for Education

Major stars from television will perform in a benefit for the Las Virgenes Unified School District.

Band From TV joins local business and community leaders as well as residents from Calabasas, Westlake Village, Agoura Hills, Bell Canyon, Hidden Hills and West Hills for the first annual event in support of the Las Virgenes Unified School District and its newly-established education foundation—T.H.E. Foundation: Together Helping Education. 

T.H.E. Event takes place Saturday, June 9, at the Calabasas Tennis and Swim Center from 5-10:30 p.m. The evening’s festivities, which will also include a silent and live auction, will be emceed by Chris Harrison (The Bachelor/The Bachelorette).

The Calabasas Tennis and Swim Center will be transformed into a star-studded affair complete with a red carpet entrance and sophisticated and chic party lounge areas. FIJI Water will serve as the exclusive water sponsor, providing special gifts and auction items.

In addition, guests will have the opportunity to enjoy great food provided by local restaurants such as Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse, Padri, Casa Escobar, Stonefire Grill, Cheesecake Factory, Brent’s Deli, and sample wines from such exceptional wine labels as Cakebread, Landmark, Silver Oak, Caymus, Quintessa, Landmark Vineyards and JUSTIN Vineyards and Winery.

Greg and Elizabeth Grunberg will serve as honorary co-chairs of the evening along with Deanna Glassberg, Marc Hernandez and Jessica Pinto Nedick.

“Our goal is to bring together the local business, corporations and residents that make up the Las Virgenes School District and the response has been overwhelming,” said Marc Hernandez, co-chair of T.H.E. Event and president of T.H.E. Foundation.  “We’re thankful to FIJI Water and all of our sponsors for their unwavering support of public education, because they understand the connection between a fully-funded school and the fiscal health and growth of the entire community."

T.H.E. Event will be a great evening full of entertainment with the Band From TV taking the stage to perform a variety of cover tunes and rock n' roll classics. 

The members of Band from TV include honorary co-chair, drummer and founding member Greg Grunberg of NBC’s Heroes and Alias and also the creator of TalkAboutIt.org; Jesse Spencer (violin), from Fox’s House; James Denton (guitar) from Desperate Housewives; Bob Guiney (vocals), who appeared on The Bachelor and is now the host of HGTV’s Showhouse Showdown; Adrian Pasdar (guitar), of Heroes and the new series Ultimate Spider-Man; Scott Grimes (keyboard/vocalist) from American Dad, ER, and Robin Hood; Anthony Ruivivar from NBC's Third Watch and The Adjustment Bureau

Band From TV is dedicated to giving back with each celebrity band member committed to a charity. The majority of the money raised from gigs and the band's CD & DVD sales is donated to support the charities in their endeavors. Additional special guests will also be taking the stage with the band.

“With all of the budgetary cutbacks, our schools are in need now more than ever of our support. THE Event is going to be an inspirational way to contribute to our school district on an annual basis and I am honored to be able to kick off the first annual party and fundraiser by performing with my band,” said honorary co-chair Greg Grunberg.

This event is a new initiative focused on bringing together a diverse group of community influencers for one night in the name of the local public schools. All of the proceeds from T.H.E. Event will go to T.H.E. Foundation, which is dedicated to saving the jobs of teachers and counselors in the Las Virgenes Unified School District that are at risk due to continued budget cuts. Sponsorship opportunities are still available and tables and individual tickets are on sale now.
