The RACI (Registration and Check In) Committee at Calabasas High School announces the partnership with the Calabasas Library to provide open technology time to help parents complete their online information forms for the 2011-12 school year.

“We have been working over the years to make this aspect of RACI paper-free and completely on-line and through Aeries,” said Penny Salomon, co-chairperson of RACI. She added, “It is essential that families who may not have access to a home computer or who need guidance can receive it prior to arriving at their schools for RACI or registration.”

RACI’s Open Technology time will be held on Aug. 9 and Aug. 11 from 5 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Parents do not need a library card to use the computers during these designated hours with representatives from RACI and the Las Virgenes Unified School District.

Barbara Lockwood, library director, was pleased to “offer this collaborative effort with the LVUSD as a partner with the schools and area families.”

The following schools are transitioning to the Aeries portal this year and families from them are welcome to attend: Calabasas High School, Agoura High School, A. E. Wright Middle School and Round Meadow Elementary.

Parents are asked to bring their student’s ID number (which is located on their student’s report cards or IDs) and any Aeries log-in information available to them.

“Parents who used last year’s on-line process will find that this year’s Aeries system takes a tremendous step to make the data input faster and easier, without duplicating information,” announced Phil Scrivano, LVUSD’s chief instructional technology officer who has overseen the project’s development.

By using the Aeries database, families will be able to view data on multiple students at different schools; update contacts, medical and emergency information; and read to approve district or school policies.

To access the Aeries portal, parents can link through the school websites or http://parent.lvusd.org. Questions about the open technology hours at the Calabasas Library can be emailed to RACI2011@charter.net.
