Ryan Emery will join for the new school year as the assistant principal, the Las Virgenes Unified School District recently announced.
Emery previously served at Crespi Carmelite High School in Encino, where he taught AP statistics, business math and web design. He also led the school's cross country team to the state championship for three years in a row, giving the school its best season.
"I feel honored to be part of such an amazing team and I look forward to the future," Emery said. "This district has a reputation for excellence and pushing people toward their personal best."
Emery also served on Crespi Carmelite High School's curriculum committee and discipline review council, and the technology integration specialist.
LVUSD Superintendent of School Daniel Stepenosky said Emery will be a great fit for Calabasas High.
"We are eager to tap his expertise, especially in the area of technology," Stepenosky said. "His familiarity with classroom instruction will help ensure that we embed technology tools in our district with sensitivity to our teachers' needs for professional development and mentoring."
Emery received his bachelor's degree in management from Auburn University, a master's degree in sports administration from Georgia State University and a master's level teaching credential in business education from the University of Georgia.
Emery, who is sponsored by Nike, continues to compete as a runner.
He will join the administrative team led by Principal CJ Foss and Assistant Principals Brian Mercer and Todd Schroeder.
