State Sen. Fran Pavley Announces Re-Election Bid

She will seek a seat as representative of the newly formed 27th Senate District.

Agoura Hills' representative in the state Senate, Fran Pavley, will seek a second term in 2012. Her campaign issued a statement Thursday morning about Pavley's intention to run as a candidate for the newly formed 27th District.

"I would be honored to represent the people of the newly drawn Senate District 27," Pavley said in the announcement. "I have life-long ties to this district. I was raised in the San Fernando Valley and spent nearly 25 years as a middle school teacher in Moorpark. My husband and I raised our two children in Agoura Hills and I was the first mayor of the city."

The new district also includes Malibu, Calabasas, Westlake Village and Hidden Hills.

"I'm confident that the issues I am focusing on in the Legislature will resonate in the new district," Pavley said. "The people in Senate District 27 care about creating jobs; improving education; clean energy innovation that grows our economy and improves air quality; sustaining our water supply; working with our local police, fire and district attorneys to keep our streets safe and protecting consumers. I look forward to running on my record of accomplishment in these areas."
