Matthew Heller is resigning from the Parks, Recreation and Education Commission after five years of service, according to the city.
Heller, who currently serves as commission chair, is stepping down Aug 1. because he is moving out of Calabasas, making him ineligble to continue holding office, said Pubilc Information Officer Bob Burris.
Heller was appointed in 2007. During his tenure, the commission recommended the reject plans for a proposed water park or swimming pool at He was also in favor of upping rates at the year to help pay for increasing costs to maintain the aging facility.
He could not be reached for comment.
Interested residents can apply to take Heller's spot on the parks commission by filling out an application and submitting it to the city clerk's office. The council will make an appointment at an upcoming meeting.
