Former Malibu Mayor Announces Run for L.A. County Supervisor Seat

Pamela Conley Ulich is hoping to take big money out of politics.

A former Malibu mayor and councilwoman announced Tuesday she will run for a seat on the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors in 2014.

Pamela Conley Ulich said she is "starting a revolutionary campaign, to bring honesty, sanity and democracy to LA County’s 3rd District."

"The corrosive effect of money and special interests in politics is pervasive," Conley Ulich said. "Issues such as emergency preparedness, education, the environment and our economy form the pillars of the Team Love LA campaign.  The Team Love LA campaign is powered by the people of the 3rd District, not special interests or political money making machines."

The Third District, which has been held by Zev Yaroslavsky since 1994, stretches from the San Fernando Valley to the Santa Monica Mountains to the Westside of Los Angeles. Yaroslavsky will be termed out in 2014.

Conley Ulich previously said the inspiration to begin an exploratory campaign came from 11-year-old Dylan Strickland, who lives down the street from Conley Ulich in Malibu.

Dylan is a member of Team Love, which helped Conley Ulich, who describes herself as a "wife, mother, lawyer, activist, library lover, former Mayor, and soccer mom," win a seat on the Malibu City Council in 2004 and 2008.

Conley Ulich said her platform will focus on restoring funding to emergency services. She also believes the quality of education has declined during recent years in the district.

Sheila Kuehl, a former member of the state Assembly and Senate, announced in early January that she is running for the open seat.
