Filing Period Opens for Water District Election

Challengers may be facing two incumbents in the Nov. 6 election.

The filing period opened Tuesday for those wanting to run for a seat on the board of directors in November.

Through Aug. 10, potential candidates can file to run for a seat representing the district's Division 1 and Division 4, currently represented by Charles Caspary and Joseph Bowman, respectively.

Candidacy forms are available at the Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk's Office located at 12400 Imperial Highway, Norwalk, 2nd Floor, Room 213. Forms must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Aug. 10.

Candidates must reside in the division they wish to represent.

Division 1 oversees Calabasas and Hidden Hills, while Division 4 encompasses Westlake Village.

Caspary and Bowman are eligible for reelection, but they did not respond to e-mails at press time to comment on whether they would seek another term.

Caspary joined the board in 2001, while Bowman became a member the following year.

The water district election takes place on Nov. 6, the same day as the general election.
