Town Hall In Warner Center

The Public is invited. The Woodland Hills~Tarzana Chamber will hold a Town Hall Meeting among the candidates for the new 30th Congressional District (CD) from 6:30 to 8:00 PM, Thursday, January 5th in the former Dick’s Sporting Goods store, basement level of the Promenade Mall, Warner Center. Admission to the event is free.  Valet Parking provided by Ruth’s Chris.

The candidates to be featured are Republicans Mark Reed and Susan Shelley and Democratic representatives Howard Berman and Brad Sherman. This election is unique because the new 30th CD was created following the recent redistricting pits long time members of the House of Representatives against one another. Both Sherman and Berman have their stalwart supporters who surely will be in attendance. Mark Reed and Susan Shelley will be able to showcase their candidacies which each hopes will give their campaigns a boost.

Westfield Shopping Centers has generously agreed to host the event and Ruth’s Cris has offered to provide complimentary valet parking.

The event will be a Town Hall format where each candidate will be asked questions from chamber members and from audience members. All of the candidates will be invited to make an opening statement about themselves followed by a questions and answer period covering the following subjects: The economy in general, what is working and not working in congress and foreign policy. The candidates will then be given an opportunity to make a closing statement. Each candidate will be given equal opportunity to answer all questions.

“We hope the community joins us for this very important debate on the issues that will affect us all. I expect the 2012 national election to be critical to the nation’s short term and long term future” said Sean McCarthy, the chamber’s chairmen of Government Affairs.

Please e-mail any questions regarding the following: the economy in general, what is working and not working in congress and foreign policy. Pose in form of a question and e-mail to government@woodlandhillscc.net.
