City Council to Consider Recognizing July as 'Parks & Recreation Month'

City staff is recommending that the City Council adopt a resolution that recognizes the month of July as "Parks & Recreation Month."

The National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) and California Parks and Recreation Society (CPRS) have designated July as Parks & Recreation Month since 1985.

During this recognition period, the city looks at the "vital contributions of employees and volunteers throughout the country and abroad who assist public parks and recreation facilities," according to a staff report.

Through the parks services, the community can take advantage of youth sports, special events, day camps, swim lessons and a variety of educational programs.

The City Council meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. in council chambers.
