Calabasas Votes

Residents cast their ballots in Tuesday's California primary election.

Local voters turned out Tuesday to cast their ballots for five propositions in addition to selecting party nominees for various statewide offices.

Candidates
Former EBay CEO Meg Whitman,  a Republican, will run against Attorney General Jerry Brown, a Democrat, for governor. Former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina, a Republican, will run against Democratic incumbent Barbara Boxer for U.S. Senate.

Proposition 13
: Passed
. Limits on property tax assessment on buildings that have been seismically retrofitted.

Proposition 14: Passed
. Increases right to participate in primary elections.

Proposition 15: Rejected. California Fair Elections Act.

Proposition 16: Rejected. Imposes new two-thirds voter approval requirement for local public electricty providers.

Proposition 17: Rejected. Allows auto insurance companies to base their prices in part on a driver's history of insurance coverage.
