Calabasas Looking for Design Professionals to Serve on Panel that Protects City's Charm

From the city of Calabasas:

The city of Calabasas is looking for five design/building professionals to volunteer on the city’s Architectural Review Panel.

The positions are open to architects, landscape architects, engineers, designers, urban planners, builders, developers or those who by their profession are qualified to read plans and offer design advice for proposed development projects in Calabasas. 

Candidates must either reside in or near Calabasas, or have work experience within the city. Applicants who meet the criteria will be interviewed by the Planning Commission; selected candidates will be asked to make a two year commitment to the position.

The Architectural Review Panel meets once or twice a month to review proposed development projects ranging from home additions to larger commercial developments and subdivisions. The panel’s purpose is to evaluate and comment on design issues related to site plan reviews, architectural designs of buildings and structures, landscape plans or other site features, and then to offer recommendations to the Planning Commission.

The goal of the Architectural Review Panel is to enhance community design and assure that projects are in harmony with their built and natural surroundings. The closing date to file an application is Aug. 7.
