Calabasas Mayor Fred Gaines delivered the 16th annual State of the City address on Jan. 15 at at Calabasas High School's Performing Arts Education Center and outlined a positive vision of the city, which was ranked the 13th safest city in California recently.

“Calabasas is home, and what we do is we try and make it safe, and we try to make it beautiful and we try to make it fun and we try to keep it fiscally responsible, and I think we've done a pretty good job," Gaines told the audience.

The evening also included performances by the  CHS jazz combo.

The State of the City presentation was one of the best lectures I ever heard. Mayor Gaines skillfully provided statistical, potentially mind-numbing information in such a creative way that we all absorbed it and left the beautiful C.H.S. Performing Arts Center better informed and highly entertained to boot! I am proud to be a "Calabasian".
