The fully-engulfed bus at one point blocked the number two right lanes of the westbound freeway, forcing a SigAlert at 10:58 a.m. that closed the lanes for approximately 30 minutes.

On Aug. 18, another antique VW caught fire on the 101 freeway two miles west of today's incident. That fire spread to adjacent hillsides and consumed several acres of parklands before it was contained.
