Police Blotter: Safe with $156K of Items Stolen From Unlocked Home

The homeowners said they normally did not lock the home or use the alarm system, which has cameras.

A safe containing $40,000 in cash and $105,000 in jewelry was taken from a Hidden Hills home north of Calabasas this month.

The theft was reported on Dec. 19 at a home on Wingfield Road near Long Valley Road, according to the Lost Hills/Malibu Sheriff’s Station.

The homeowners told an investigator that the safe was last seen on Dec. 1, but the couple recently noticed it was missing.

The homeowners said they normally did not lock the home or use the alarm system, which has cameras.

Inside the safe was a platinum ring with three carat princess cut diamonds in the center worth $35,000, a ruby diamond ring valued at $50,000 and platinum earring with two carat princess cut diamonds worth $25,000.

The theft remains under investigation.

People are desperate during these times. My moms house was robbed last week in Oak Park. Such a violation.

Why would you leave your home unlocked and alarm off with those kind of valuables in your home? I'm sure they have insurance though...
