Police Blotter: Safe with $156K of Items Stolen From Unlocked Home

The homeowners said they normally did not lock the home or use the alarm system, which has cameras.

A safe containing $40,000 in cash and $105,000 in jewelry was taken from a Hidden Hills home north of Calabasas this month.

The theft was reported on Dec. 19 at a home on Wingfield Road near Long Valley Road, according to the Lost Hills/Malibu Sheriff’s Station.

The homeowners told an investigator that the safe was last seen on Dec. 1, but the couple recently noticed it was missing.

Inside the safe was a platinum ring with three carat princess cut diamonds in the center worth $35,000, a ruby diamond ring valued at $50,000 and platinum earring with two carat princess cut diamonds worth $25,000.

The theft remains under investigation.
