A $10,000 generator was stolen from a construction site on Agoura Road sometime between June 11 and June 14.

A Crook in Need of Cutlery?

A suspect made off with a $200 set of knives on July 3 after he was spotted in a home's kitchen by the victim.

The burglary was reported at 12:41 a.m. from a home on the 5400 block of Ruthwood Drive.

The victim was awoken in the middle of the night by noises coming from her kitchen.

She headed toward the kitchen thinking she'd run into one of her children, but instead saw a man with straight black hair at about ear length, wearing a light colored possibly gray t-shirt with light brown shorts.

At first the victim thought the male was her daughter's boyfriend.

"Teddy, what are you doing?" The victim asked.

The suspect replied by saying, "I don't know."

It was then the victim realized that the suspect was not her daughter's boyfriend because he had a different voice.

He immediately started to run, opened the rear sliding door and exited the house.

The supect was 5 feet 9 inches tall or 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighed between 145 and 165 pounds.

Carvings are Forever

Two oak trees at a home on the 900 block of Cold Canyon Road were vandalized by having "S.N.K." etched into their barks.

The acts of vandalism are believed to have occurred sometime between noon on June 20 and 4 p.m. on June 22.

One of the trees is 30 inches in diameter, while the other tree is 15 inches in diameter.

"S.N.K" was chiseled into the larger tree, while the same letters plus a star-shaped symbol were carved into the smaller oak.

The victim believes the suspect could have ventured off a public hiking trail that runs about 50 feet away from her property line.

Together, the trees are valued at around $93,000, according to the city of Calabasas' Oak Tree Preservation Protection Guidelines.

An arborist hired by the victim concluded that the exposed bark created by the carvings could result in trees becoming diseased.
