Police Blotter: String of Burglaries Reported in Calabasas

Here are some of the major crimes that have been reported in Calabasas to the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department recently.

Burglar Rings Doorbell, Enters Through Unlocked Door

A burglar rang the doorbell of a home before entering through an unlocked door of a Calabasas home, stealing a $3,000 watch and a bottle of champagne.

The burglary was reported at 4:50 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11 on Edenpark Drive in Calabasas.

Security footage showed a young Black male ring the doorbell and look through a window before walking away. Later that day, his home was ransacked and the Britling silver watch and a bottle of Moet-Chandon champagne were taken.

The investigation is ongoing.

Burglar Takes $28,000 of Jewelry, Watches, Signed Jersey  

A burglar ransacked a Calabasas home Dec. 11 and took a coin collection, several expensive watches, jewelry and a LA Kings Jersey singed by Ian Turnbull, according to a report from the Lost Hills/Malibu Sheriff’s Station.

The burglary was reported at 3:30 p.m. Dec. 11 on Sea Wind Place in Calabasas.

The woman returned to the home and found the door to between the living room and the garage wide open, and a small window in the kitchen smashed.

A jewelry box was taken, including the victim’s wedding ring, several watches and a necklace.

The thief also took a coin collection worth $10,000, an iPod and the LA Kings Jersey. The investigation is continuing.

Woman Stops Attempted Burglary of Home

A woman painting in her bathroom caught a man trying to burglarize her home on Friday, Nov. 30 on Ruthwood Drive in Calabasas.

The woman reported that she was painting a picture in the bathroom about 10:30 a.m. when she saw the door handle move, opened the door and saw a man walking away.

When she called out to him, asking what he was doing there he replied “I’m sorry” and walked away east on Ruthwood Drive.

Deputies conducted a search of the area, but did not find the man.

Prescription Meds Stolen From Locked Car

A man’s prescription medication was stolen from a locked car at 23627 Calabasas Road in Calabasas on Dec. 3.

The pills, which included Effexor, Fertinal patch, Ritalin and Dexooryne Spansule, were in a black Kenneth Cole bag in the back of his trunk.

A deputy did not find any damage to the vehicle and the investigation is ongoing.

Thief Tries to Steal 9 Champagne Bottles From Ralphs

A man left a Ralphs store with $500 worth of champagne on Dec. 10 in Calabasas.

The burglary was reported at 2:44 p.m. at the Ralphs at 4754 Commons Way in Calabasas.

Nine bottles, ranging from Nicolas Feuillatte to Perrier Jouet, were taken, along with a box of “Trix” cereal from the store.

The man then tried to exit the store, but he was stopped and the bottles were recovered.
