iPhone Theft at Library; Jewelry Stolen From Home

Someone borrows a phone and then runs off with it; charm bracelets and other belongings are stolen in a residential burglary.

An unidentified male ran off with an iPhone after a patron at lent it to him to make a call on Sept. 22, according to sheriff’s deputies.

At about 1 p.m., the male asked the library patron, who was sitting near him, if he could borrow his phone, saying he wanted to call his sister, according to a deputy's report. The victim handed the iPhone to the male, who apparently stepped outside to make the call in private, but then took off, deputies said.

Deputies said they were were unable to identify the thief via video surveillance footage because he kept covering his face.

The thief was described as 5-foot-11 and weighing about 175 pounds.

High-end bicycles stolen in home burglary

Two Roubaix 10-speed bicycles were stolen from a residence in the 23000 block of Wrencrest Drive, according to deputies.

The theft occurred sometime between 10 p.m. on Sept 18 and 6 a.m. on Sept. 19, a deputy’s report read.

Authorities said the burglar broke into a vehicle parked in the driveway, and used a garage door opener to gain entry to the garage.

Two bicycles were stolen: a black 10-speed Roubaix Elite Triple with a carbon frame valued at $1,950 and a blue 10-speed Roubaix Comp Triple with a carbon frame valued at $1,750.

Deputies were unable to find any witnesses to the burglary.

Bracelets and other jewelry stolen from residence

More than $1,000 in jewelry and other personal belongings was stolen from a home in the 5400 block of Parkmor Road, deputies said.

The burglary occurred while the homeowners were at work, sometime between 7 a.m. and 6:45 p.m. on Sept. 16, according to a deputy's report.

The burglar got in by breaking through a bedroom door, authorities said.

An $850 silver-braided charm bracelet with four diamonds and gold links as well as a $200 Tiffany’s Somerset woman’s ring were stolen, deputies said.
