VIDEO: Calabasas House Fire Forces Parents to Walk Students to School

No injuries are reported in the fire near Lupin Hill Elementary School.

A non-injury house fire in Calabasas prompted the closure of a road leading up to Lupin Hill Elementary School Wednesday, forcing parents to walk their children a half mile to school.

The blaze broke out in the single family home at 7:04 a.m. in the 2600 block of Adamore Road, according to Sgt. Skikas of the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff's Station.

Firefighters quickly doused the flames, cutting a hole in the roof.

Parents were asked to walk their kids onto the school campus due to the traffic back-up.

A mom, who only gave her name as Lilly, said she was worried at first.

"There was so much traffic. I had to turn around. I couldn't find this side. I realized I had to park my car," Lilly said.

The woman said she enjoyed some mother-daughter time.

Another mother, Bhawana Dhingra, said she lived down the street.

"I was a little bit scared but everything should be okay," Dhingra said.

The cause of the fire is unknown and investigators are on the scene, Skikas said.
