UPDATE: L.A. County Fire Helicopter Rescues Injured Hiker on Backbone Trail

The woman called for help after injuring her leg on the Backbone Trail in the hills between eastern Malibu and Calabasas.

An injured woman hiking with seven other people was rescued Sunday on the Backbone Trail above eastern Malibu.

The woman called for help about 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 17 on the Backbone Trail about 45 minutes from Stunt Road south of Mulholland Highway, according to David Katz, a spokesman with L.A. County sheriff's Malibu Search and Rescue.

The hiker worked with a L.A. County helicopter to help find her location, while crews from Malibu SAR hiked in from the top of Stunt Road, Katz said.

L.A. County Fire helicopter 18 found the injured woman, who was not visible from the trail, just after noon, according to Katz.

Lame people who don't know what they are doing. Probably don't exercise, then say oh, let's go hike the Santa monica mountains!

Wow, unless she had some kind of life threatening injury, a helicopter is a little extreme isn't it? I hope she's ok.
