Ex-NFLer Keyshawn Johnson Arrested in Calabasas, Suspected of Battery

Deputies were called out to a possible domestic assault involving a man and his ex-girlfriend.

A man arrested under the suspicion of domestic battery this morning in Calabasas has been identified as ex-NFLer and ESPN football personality Keyshawn Johnson.

According to a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department press release, deputies were called to the scene at 12:48 this morning “regarding a possible spousal assault call for service.”

Deputies determined the resident and his ex-girlfriend were involved in a domestic dispute and ultimately arrested the homeowner.

A second LASD press release identified the suspect as Johnson, a wide receiver back in the day for the New York Jets and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Bail was set at $20,000.

Johnson made bail and was released at 9:15 this morning, according to a second press release. 

Johnson was the No. 1 draft pick in 1996, an All-American at USC and played wide-receiver for the New York Jets, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Dallas Cowboys and Carolina Panthers, retiring after the 2006 season.
