Crime Blotter: Car Burglaries at the Commons; Alleged Shoplifter Arrested

A pair of car burglaries take place within 24 hours of each other; a woman is arrested on suspicion of stealing beauty products from Albertsons.

Car seats stolen at the Commons

There were two reports in the past few weeks of car seats being stolen from vehicles parked at the , according to sheriff's deputies.

The first theft occurred on March 23 sometime between 8-10 p.m., according to a deputy's report.

A burglar stole a $1,500 factory-installed stereo/navigation system and the third row seats of a GMC Yukon, the report read. The SUV was parked near Marmalade Cafe.

Deputies did not find any signs of forced entry.

The next day, a $500 third-row passenger seat was stolen from a vehicle that was parked at the shopping center sometime between 6:30 p.m. and 9:45 p.m., deputies said. There were no signs of forced entry, the report read.

There are no surveillance cameras at the shopping center. Deputies did not say if the burglaries were connected.

Alleged Albertsons shoplifter arrested

An Agoura Hills resident was arrested March 30 for allegedly shoplifting beauty products from the on Agoura Road, according to deputies.

Karen King, 46, was spotted on a security monitor placing containers in her purse, deputies said.

The manager stopped King near the exit and found Loreal, Revlon and Olay products, totaling $81.51, in her purse, a deputy's report read.

King told deputies that she initially went to the Albertsons pharmacy to pick up a prescription, but did not have enough money to pay for it. She said she then went to the beauty aisle and tried some products by applying them to her face. King told deputies that she placed the items in her bag and forgot that they were there.

But deputies ended up forming the opinion that since she was unable to pay for her prescriptions and went on to loiter in the store, that she visited Albertsons with the intent to commit a theft.

King was booked for burglary.
