Cost of Egging a Calabasas Home: $81K for Justin Bieber

Pop star Justin Bieber pleaded no contest today to misdemeanor vandalism for throwing eggs at a neighbor's Calabasas home in January and was sentenced to two years probation.

Bieber, who was not in court for the hearing, was also ordered to perform five days community labor and pay $80,900 in restitution. He also must complete an anger-management program.

Bieber, 20, no longer lives in Calabasas. He is now believed to be living primarily in the Beverly Hills area when he is in the Southland.

As part of the plea deal, Bieber was ordered not to have any contact with the victim or his family.

Prosecutors considered felony charges because the damage -- nine eggs were supposedly thrown -- was said to be more than $400 -- the legal standard for a felony. But Deputy District Attorney Alan Yochelson said he was "satisfied" with the misdemeanor charge.

Yoechelson said during the hearing that the egg-throwing was "extremely immature and a silly act." He noted that the house that was struck by the eggs was a dream home for the victim's family, and a large amount of work went into the building.

A progress report hearing was scheduled for Aug. 12.

The Jan. 9 egging -- part of which was recorded on video -- in the 25000 block of Prado Del Grandioso triggered a Jan. 14 raid on the home, in which Bieber's pal Lil Za, real name Xavier Smith, was arrested on suspicion of drug possession.

In April, Smith pleaded no contest to possession of Ecstasy and a misdemeanor count of damaging a jail or prison for smashing a phone at the sheriff's station in Malibu. He was ordered to attend a drug program, perform 20 days of community labor and spend three years on probation. He also was ordered to pay $600 in restitution and a $1,000 fine.

The felony drug count can be reduced to a misdemeanor if he completes the drug program.
