Expensive boots swiped

A $1,600 pair of black boots was stolen from on Saturday, according to deputies.

The theft occurred after the manager placed the boots outside by the store's front door and returned inside to take care of end-of day-business sometime between 7:55 p.m. and 8:25 p.m., deputies said.

The Koenig women's boots were knee-high, made of black leather and  each bore a gold crown on the outside, according to the description.

There were no witnesses or security cameras at the location, a deputy's report said.

Petty cash stolen from middle school

Nearly $900 in cash was stolen from a safe at , sheriff's deputies reported.

The money was removed from a canvas bag that was placed in a safe in the office of the central kitchen manager in the kitchen building, deputies said. The bag contained $897.50 in petty cash used for the school's nutrition-break program, they said.

The door to the office was rarely locked and the safe combination was written in a file labeled "combo" located in a drawer in the same room, deputies said. The safe showed no signs of forced entry, they said.

The theft happened sometime between June 21 and Aug. 16, according to a deputy's report. The school's account clerk said she delayed reporting the missing money in hopes it would turn up again.

Jewelry taken in home burglary

A men's Rolex watch valued at $8,000 and other jewelry were stolen from a home in the 4200 block of Kingfisher Road, according to a deputy's report.

The home burglary occurred sometime between July 26 and Friday, the report read.

The victim stored the 18-karat gold watch, which has a bamboo band, in her garage safe, along with a 40-year-old double-strand pearl necklace with a gold clasp valued at $1,000 and an $800 freshwater pearl necklace. A $100 jade necklace and a $100 "Tree of Life" charm bracelet were also stolen. The victim kept the safe key elsewhere on the premises, authorities said.

Deputies reported no signs of forced entry on the safe.
