Jewelry salesman robbed of goods at Commons

A jewelry salesman was assaulted with a box cutter and robbed of hundreds of thousands of dollars' worth of accessories in the parking lot of the on Oct. 4, according to sheriff's deputies.

The salesman parked his car in a space in front of and was planning on showing merchandise to Polachecks, a deputy's report read.

Before he got out of the car, four men approached his vehicle, deputies said. One of the robbers smashed the driver's side window while another broke the passenger side window, the report read. The robber who smashed the driver's side window reached in for the car keys, yelling, "Open the trunk!," deputies said.

As the salesman tried to push him away, the robber attacked him with a box cutter, deputies said. The salesman was cut on one of his thumbs and a finger, but refused treatment for his injuries, deputies said.

During the assault, another robber smashed the left rear passenger window and grabbed a case from the backseat that contained more than $450,000 worth of jewelry, authorities said.

The four robbers then ran off. The salesman tried to chase them in his car, but noticed his tires had been slashed when he tried to back up, deputies said. The salesman did not see in which direction the robbers went.

The robbers made off with $150,000 worth of gold bracelets, $100,000 worth of rings and $200,000 worth of earring sets, deputies said.

The area reportedly was searched, but the culprits weren't found. A vehicle description was not made available.

Pricey bracelet, wedding band stolen in home burglary

A $2,000 gold bracelet was stolen from a residence in the 26000 block of Veva Way on Oct. 3, according to deputies.

The home burglary happened sometime between 8 a.m. and 5:20 p.m., a deputy's report read.

The victim said she returned home and noticed that the bedroom was ransacked and that her bracelet and a $300 wedding band were missing from a jewelry box that was placed in a dresser drawer, authorities said.

Deputies said the burglar gained entry through the master bedroom window by prying it out and exited through the front door.

There were no witnesses to the theft, authorities said.
