Alleged Shoplifter Arrested at Albertsons; Marketing Office Burglarized

Glendale man allegedly tries to steal several cases of Red Bull; computers stolen from Sparks Alliance Marketing.

A Glendale man was arrested Friday for allegedly shoplifting several cases of Red Bull energy drinks from the on Agoura Road and reportedly punching a store employee who gave chase, authorities said.

Narek Nazaryan, 23, was spotted by an employee pushing a cart filled with cases of Red Bull toward one of the grocery store's exit doors around 1 p.m., according to sheriff's deputies.

The employee was suspicious of Nazaryan, especially after cashiers said they did not recognized the man as a customer, deputies said. The employee followed Nazaryan to his vehicle and asked him for a purchase receipt, but Nazaryan became argumentative and tried to flee, the report said.

The employee attempted to grab Nazaryan to prevent him from escaping, but the suspect struck him in the face, authorities said. The employee and a co-worker then held down Nazaryan until deputies arrived, the report said.

Questioned by deputies, Nazaryan told them he had intended to steal the cases of Red Bull for his clients and carried $200 in his wallet in case he changed his mind, authorities said.

"It was stupid. I know I shouldn't have done this," he reportedly told deputies.

He was booked on suspicion of burglary and strong-arm robbery, according to the deputy's report.

Computers stolen from local office

Six computers were stolen from at 4766 Park Granada on Oct. 10, according to deputies.

The office's front door was pried open to gain entry; stolen were four Mac desktop computers valued at $6,000 and two laptops worth $3,000, the report said.

There are no surveillance cameras at the location, authorities said.
