4 Hikers Rescued From Malibu Creek Park Cliff

A search and rescue team saved an adult male and three teenage girls who were stranded on a cliff in on Sunday.

The man, 34, his 14-year-old daughter and four of her friends, ages 14-16, found themselves stuck on a ciff in the Goat Butte Mountain area of the park, according to a press release.

Two of the hikers were able to make it safely down the cliff on their own, while one of the stranded victims found cellphone reception and called the around 5 p.m., the statement read.

The station's search and rescue was dispatched to the area. Three of the hikers were escorted down with help from a technical rope lowering system, the press release read.

One of the teenagers was extracted via helicopter cable winch because she was too frightened to "be taken down the slope," authorities said.

The rescue was completed by 9 p.m. and no injuries were reported, the press release read.
