After a very successful inaugural year with roughly 2,500 participants and over $16,000 generated for local charities and school clubs, the Ventura Marathon is taking it a step further.
This time around, the Ventura Marathon is kicking off its second year by partnering with five non-profit organizations including Pier Into The Future, the Humane Society of Ventura County, Autism Society Ventura County, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer and the Rotary Club of Ventura.
“We are excited to be partnering with five amazing charities,” says race director Josh Spiker. “We feel that giving participants the ability to raise funds will give their efforts more meaning, while raising money foe the charities.”
Participants signing up online will have the option of raising funds for one of the five charities mentioned. There is a team option too, through a club, an office or any group.
Although the event organizers feel most people will raise money out of the goodness of their hearts, they have added some incentives, which include a Ventura Marathon running hat ($100 goal), a Ventura Marathon hooded sweatshirt ($250 goal) and a free entry to next year’s race ($500).
The top individual and top team fundraisers will get additional prizes.
