WHY DON'T YOU MOVE IT, MOVE IT?

Be it hiking, music or a walking buddy there are ways to make walking enjoyable and doable.

Walking is one of the best exercises you can do. But do you find it boring? Try using music. Get out your Ipod (or in my case I stlll have a CD player) and find some tunes you love with a good beat.

Muscles respond to music and you will find yourself moving faster without even trying. It's hard NOT to move to the music. And remember, this kind of work-out is right outside your front door.

If your neighborhood bores you then try hiking. We live in an area surrounded by many hiking trails including the Santa Monica Mountains and the Santa Susana Mountains. Don't hike alone. Find a buddy and get out there and move in nature. It will fill your soul to surround yourself with trees, wild flowers, hills and blue skys. (well sometimes blue) You can find great daily hikes at  www.meetup.com. Type HIKING in the search engine and join the goups you like for FREE.You will be notified of when and where the next hike is being held. Choose to go or not, it's up to you.

My group is called The Calabasas Day Hikers and we have hikes from 2-3 miles up to 10 or 12 all throughout the week.

Remember our baby steps to a healthier you-and if that means only a five-minute walk up the street then that's great. Just get out and move it move!
