Video: Mud in Yer' Eye (and Hair and Everywhere)

There were no stick in the muds at this event.

More than 1,000 runners and walkers braved an early Saturday morning—not to mention mud puddles and other obstacles—this weekend to support the Salvation Army's Malibu Canyon summer camp program.

The camp provides summer fun for more than 1,600 disadvantaged children each year, but such programs cost a lot of money. The annual Malibu Canyon Dirt Dash, now in its seventh year, is one of the ways the Salvation Raisess money to continue giving a camp experience to Los Angeles kids who otherwise may never get a chance to see the ocean, let alone spend time at summer camp.

Some of Saturday's participants came out specifically to help raise money and awareness for the camp, located near the Malibu Creek State Park Tapia Service Area, while others came with their muddy buddies just to have a chance to play in the mud.
