You can still download free marketing materials from the Small Business AmEx website including signage, banners, and social media and email templates for the day. Try to see about getting the word spread on local blogs in the area (the Patch is always a good place to start posting!) and through your social networks including Facebook and Twitter, both your personal and professional profiles to spread as much word of mouth and rally together as many members of the community to be present as possible.

2) Offer Great Incentives and Discounts

Small Business Saturday is the day after Black Friday so in order to get shoppers enthusiastic about getting up out of bed and shopping for the second day in a row, you have to make them an offer they can’t refuse. Offer 50% off discounts and “new customer” promo codes to use both online (if your business has an online presence) and in store and include extra incentives like extended free shipping dates, complimentary trial sized sample products, or free gift wrap that most major department stores can’t offer.

3) Get Enthusiastic!

This is a big day to put your business on the map so start it off with a bang! Bring in your employees for the day, put on some fun music, and set up festive decorations with complimentary snacks for customers to munch on. When you and your staff are excited and attentive to customers, the feeling is sure to rub off and attract both new and returning customers alike back to your business!
