Cyclists, come enjoy the outdoors and make a difference with Heal the Bay’s Stream Team! Heal the Bay is partnering with the Mountains Restoration Trust to clean up critical riparian habitat in the Malibu Creek Watershed!

There are sites in  Malibu Creek State Park that need cleanup work but are too far in to hike to. Upper Malibu Creek is littered with a ton of junk -wrecked kayaks, dinghies, fishing boats, lawn furniture.... it all needs to get hauled out! We're looking for up to 20 hardy folks with mountain bikes (or anything you can ride on a fire road) to help restore habitat.

The site is at the back of the park and only about 3 miles each way, so you don't need to be Lance Armstrong to help.

The basic gear you need is your bike, a helmet, basic off-road riding skills, sturdy shoes to work in, sunscreen, a hat, plenty of water, and a snack. Because getting that junk out is going to be messy work, we also strongly suggest bringing a long-sleeved shirt to work in and long pants (or anything to cover your legs). Gloves and tools with be provided. The organizer and volunteers will meet at 8:45 am and leave for the work site promptly at 9:00 - the ride should take about 25 minutes.

NOTE: We are meeting at Malibu Creek State Park
2028 Las Virgenes Road
Lower Parking Lot
Calabasas, CA 91302

Ask for a parking pass for the Heal the Bay/Mountains Restoration Trust restoration event at the front gate. We'll meet at the lower parking lot near the restrooms at 8:45. If you are coming South on Las Virgenes Rd., the park entrance is 0.2 miles south of Mulholland. If you are coming North on Malibu Canyon Rd, the park entrance is 1.5 miles north of the crossing with Piuma. There is another entrance for Malibu Creek SP/Tapia south of the main entrance, 0.2 miles north of Piuma- do not enter here but continue on another 1.3 miles to the main entrance.

All participants must sign liability waiver forms

The event is open to anyone 16 and over as long as they are comfortable biking off-road. Those under 18 must have their waiver form signed by a parent or guardian to participate.

Space is limited, we are accepting volunteers on a first come/first served basis - sign up now.
