Yard Sale Raises Money for Firefighters

Vendors sell items at the Civic Center to assist LA County Fire Emergency Operations.

Dozens of vendors sold belongings and collectibles at the Calabasas Civic Center on Saturday to raise funds for LA County Fire Emergency Operations.

Resident Alli Hirshfield organized the event and said she wanted to do something for firefighters on the ninth anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.

"We figured yard sales, 9/11 LA County Fire Emergency Operations, and they save our houses all the time," she said.

"It's nice for people to recognize firefighters in this way and think about contributing to firefighters who perhaps need assistance," he said.
