Where to Celebrate Purim

Purim, the Jewish festival, begins at sunset on Wednesday night and ends Thursday evening. According to , it is a day of complete celebration, joy and even chaos.

Here's a sampling of some fun, local Purim events:

is observing the holiday Wednesday night with Purim in Persia, a Purim celebration and Megillah reading. The event, which takes place at the Hyatt Westlake Plaza Hotel (880 S. Westlake Blvd., Westlake) begins at 7:30 p.m. and admission is $5. It promises to be an 'interactive Purim experience,' featuring a meet-and-greet with Queen Esther, Haman hamantaschen and a unicyclist show. Come in costume. Click here to RSVP.

A family Purim service with Megillah reading is being held at at 6:30 p.m. Come in costume!

Temple Adat Elohim (2420 E Hillcrest Drive, Thousand Oaks) is holding its annual Purim Carnival on Sunday, March 11, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The festival will offer food, games, arts & crafts and a moon bounce. A packet of 20 tickets is $10 at the carnival or $8 if purchased in advance by March 9th. Click here for more information.
