Week in Review: Cell Towers and Overseas Operations

T-Mobile halts its plans for Adamsville Road pending an environmental impact report, and a Calabasas company arranges for Americans in need of treatment to travel to other countries where surgery is less expensive.

Fueled by public concern, the Calabasas Planning Commission is going to wait until an environmental impact report on the proposed construction of two T-Mobile cell towers on Adamsville Road is produced before making its decision on whether to approve them. T-Mobile is also trying to build a monopole on Adamor Road. Planet Hospital is helping residents find cheaper health care in countries such as India and Australia.

MONDAY

We started things off for the week with a resident spotlight on Debbie Gold, who's concerned that cuts to school funding will affect the quality of her children's education.

Then came a story on the Leonis Adobe sponsoring an event to educate kids on Chumash life.

We finished the day with a video on local response to Proposition 8 being overturned.

The first item we posted for that day was a story on Daniel Wilkin of the Calabasas High baseball team and the effect he has had on the team.

Next we posted the final score for the AYFFL roundup with slideshow one and two.

We ended the day with a resident spotlight on Laila Sarkissian, who doesn't like that smoking isn't allowed in Calabasas.

FRIDAY

We started the day with a profile on a Calabasas High shortstop whose presence meant more to the Coyotes than his numbers.

We wrapped up the day with a story on the temporary closure of sushi restaurant Shibuya for remodeling.

SATURDAY

We lead with a story about how T-Mobile's attempt to build two cell towers on Adamsville Road was halted again indefinitely until an environmental impact report can be produced.

The last post was our hiking column on Phantom Trail, which is tough but offers beautiful and diverse views.
