Week in Review: Alexis Neiers Sentenced; Groveman, Washburn Out of Council Race

The former E! reality TV star will take part in a drug treatment program; Mayor Barry Groveman and Mayor Pro Tem Dennis Washburn decline to seek another term on the City Council.

What a week! The past seven days were filled with plenty of breaking news announcements, more celebrity drama, some election surprises and a car chase.

Former E! reality TV star Alexis Neiers was sentenced to enroll in a drug treatment program after she was arrested on Dec. 1 on suspicion of possessing black tar heroin. Neiers spent some time this year in prison after she was found guilty of burglarizing the Hollywood Hills home of actor Orlando Bloom in 2009.

And Mayor Barry Groveman and Mayor Pro Tem Dennis Washburn are out of the 2011 City Council race before it even begins. Both did not file the necessary nomination papers by the 4:30 p.m. deadline on Friday to be eligible to run for re-election.
