Spring Break Camps for Kids

Lots of fun camps are available during spring break to keep your kids busy and active.

Staying home during spring break?  Don't know what to do with your kids?  How about sending them to a camp that's event-filled, inexpensive and local.  Both the Agoura Hills Recreation Center and the are offering several options for youngsters.

The Rec Center offers four camp experiences for the kids, each broken into age groups and activities.  For more information, call 818-597-7361.

  • Springtime Fun Camp - Ages 3-5 - offers crafts, games, cooking and lots of age appropriate activities.  Hours are 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., and the cost is $25 a day.
  • Rec Club on the Go - Ages 5-10 - offers day trips to fun places in and around Agoura Hills.  Buses will transport the kids to such locales as Bright Child, Chuck E. Cheese and Golf N Stuff.  Hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the cost is $50 a day.
  • Adventure Club - Ages 10-15 - is a full day trip to Magic Mountain on April 21.  Campers will meet at Reyes Adobe Park where they'll meet the bus.  The day runs from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., and the cost is $85.
  • Bash'em Bots with Legos - Ages 7-12 - offers kids the opportunity to create their own massive motorized machines.  Camp is April 18-April 19, and the hours are 1 -4 p.m.  The cost is $70.

  • Critters N' Art Camp - Ages 5-11 - offers kids the chance to see and talk  about small animals like rabbits, guinea pigs, and turtles.  They will learn interesting facts about a different animal each day and then sculpt it out of clay. Camp hours are from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.  The cost is $120.
  • Marine Biology Camp - Ages 5-11 - gives kids a chance to hold a starfish, see what's inside a clam shell and dissect a squid.  Camp hours are 12 - 3 p.m. The cost is $120.
  • Advantage Basketball Camp - Ages 7-18 - offers courses for kids to improve their ball-handling and shooting skills. Camp hours are 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. on April 18-21. The cost is $125.
