SoCal Gas Prices on the Decline

Experts attribute the lower prices to a decrease in the price of wholesale gas.

 

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County decreased today for the 13th consecutive day, falling 1.7 cents to $4.469.

The average price has dropped 23.6 cents over the past 13 days, including 3.3 cents on Sunday, after rising 50.4 cents over the previous seven days to a record high of $4.705, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price is 17.9 cents less than one week ago, but 31.7 cents
more than one month ago and 58.1 cents higher than one year ago.

The Orange County average price decreased today for the 14th consecutive
day, falling 1.3 cents to $4.443. It has fallen 24.7 cents over the past 14 days, including 3 cents on Sunday, after rising 51.3 cents over the previous six days to a record high of $4.69.

The lower pump prices are the result of significant decreases to the price of wholesale gasoline, according to Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club
of Southern California said.
