Expect More Overnight 405 Closures This Week

The Cahuenga Pass and Studio City hills will be a major alternative.

Commuters heading from the San Fernando Valley into the Westside will face late night and early morning closures starting Monday night and ending early Wednesday morning.

Metro contractors are placing scaffolding and supports high above the San Diego (405) Freeway at Sepulveda Pass. The metal falsework will support the new Mulholland Drive overpass.

Partial lane closures will go into effect starting at 7 p.m. Monday on the southbound lanes of the 405 Freeway, from the Ventura (101) Freeway south to Getty Center Drive.

Northbound lanes will get the same treatments on Wednesday and Thursday nights, meaning the 405 north will be closed between Westwood and the Valley from midnight Wednesday and Thursday nights until 5 a.m. Thursday and Friday mornings.

Sepulveda Boulevard will remain open next to the freeway during the closures as an alternate route. But it only has one lane in each direction in much of the work zone.

Carpool and exit lanes are being added, and th entire freeway revamped, between the 101 and the Santa Monica (10) Freeway. The $1.2 billion project is scheduled to be completed next year, and is being run by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority in cooperation with Caltrans.
