5 Things You Need To Know Today: Oct. 14

Free programs today include a hike, a workout and Calabasas High School's home football game honoring Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

1. Get outdoors and rejuvenate with a 40-minute hike followed by a 20-minute stretch courtesy of , a free "outer-gym" exercise program that introduces a variety of fitness routines at changing venues around Calabasas. Tomorrow at 9 a.m., the hike/stroll will commence on the trails behind Juan Batista de Anza Park at 3701 Lost Hills Road, Calabasas.  

2. For a more intense workout, check out a free Xtreme60 class at  at Betterbody Pilates Fitness. Combining advanced cardio and Pilates, the all-in-one routine created by celebrity trainer Mari Pratt works the entire body in an hour. The studio is located at 22237 Mulholland Highway. 

3. Bring children 3-years-old and under to the Pumpkin Patch Storytime at the Calabasas Library at 10:30 a.m. for a free program. Tots can enjoy a half hour of books read by a librarian in the reading room. The library's located at 200 Civic Center Way.

4. Support breast cancer research at tonight's home football game at . The Coyotes vie against Moorpark at 7 p.m. Meanwhile in commemoration of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, merchandise will be available for purchase near the stadium's entrance, with all profits benefiting breast cancer research. CHS is located at 22855 Mulholland Highway. Admission is free.

5. Try to stay cool; the National Weather Service recorded triple digit temperatures for the San Fernando Valley on Thursday. The mini heat wave is expected to continue today, bringing with it a high of 93 degrees. After a low of 61 degrees tonight, the warm trend tapers off tomorrow.
