5 Things You Need to Know Today: Nov. 18

A performance of 'The Laramie Project,' Pumpkin Patch Story Time and a chance to tour old film sets.

  1. Enjoy a student rendition of The Laramie Project at Calabasas High at 7 p.m. at the school's theater. The play tells the tragic story of Matthew Shepard, a 21-year-old who was murdered because of his sexual orientation. A 2 p.m. and a 7 p.m. showing are scheduled for Saturday. Tickets can be purchased at the school's theater website. Admission is $10 for student and $15 for adults.
  2. It's Pumpkin Patch Story Time at the Calabasas Library at 10:30 a.m. for children under the age of three.
  3. It's that time of the year again when Las Virgenes Creek needs to be rid of litter. Volunteers are invited to help pick up trash at the creek on Saturday from 9-11 a.m. Meet at the creek's entrance at the Agoura Road Bridge (right behind the Starbucks).
  4. Take a film history tour through on Saturday and see the sights of former movie sets. The event begins at 10 a.m. and admission is $75. Use the temporary entrance 200 yards past the main gate. Meet in main parking lot.
  5. Expect patchy fog today with a high of 61, according to the National Weather Service.
