5 Things You Need to Know Today: March 17

St. Patrick's Day celebrations, e-waste collection and farmers market.

  1. Happy St. Patrick's Day, Calabasas! Head to the Agoura Hills/Calabasas Community Center or the Sagebrush Cantina on Saturday for live music, food, games and more.
  2. It's Saturday once again and that means it's time for the weekly Calabasas Farmers Market. Stop by Calabasas Road just west of El Canon Avenue between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. and check out dozens of vendors selling everything from fruits and veggies to meat and desserts.
  3. Got some old tech devices that need dumping? A monthly e-waste collection  event will be held at the Vons at 23381 Mulholland Dr. on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Acceptable electronics include televisions, cell phones, personal computers, light bulbs, copiers, fax machines, laptops, mainframe computers, microwave ovens, and printers. Please do not bring hazardous waste.
  4. Learn how the Chumash Indians used the natural resources of their environment at a special program at King Gillette Ranch. "A Walk Into the Chumash World" begins at 10 a.m. Admission is $7. Meet at the parking lot to left of pond.
  5. Expect rain all day long with a high 57, according to the National Weather Service.
